There are many many great reasons to shop secondhand (the environment, climate change, horrific landfill statistics, the list goes on) but KIDS…they grow out of clothes almost before you’ve managed to wrestle them into them.
I realised that a lot of stuff I had bought for my boys or been given had been worn a handful of times or never at all. I also resented paying full whack for maternity clothes that I knew wouldn’t fit me in a few months but also didn’t want to compromise on style just because I was pregnant.
Not only is it a nightmare for the environment to knowingly buy new things that you know will get minimal wear but it’s a massive strain on the wallet that none of us need, especially in the current climate.
It occurred to me that aside from the local Facebook groups and a few charity shops, there weren’t really any places in my local area whose sole focus was to facilitate an easy way to buy, swap & sell kids clothing and maternity wear.
North London was crying out for a stylish, secondhand clothing exchange! And so the idea of tot swap was born.
A place where you can exchange perfectly good clothes for credit or cash and buy quality secondhand clothes for you/your bump and your little ones.
We also take donations, 70% of the proceeds from those sales will be reinvested into the local community by way of cash provisions for local families in need.
Let’s do our bit to ensure that our kids have a planet to grow up on and encourage the reuse of barely worn clothing.
